Self-Care Ideas for May

Happy May! The month brings warmer weather, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day weekend, and much more. But remember, the most important thing is taking care of yourself. If you need inspiration, check out the following self-care ideas for May.

  1. Make a commitment to take better care of yourself. Write your affirmation out on paper to view.
  2. Practice positive thinking.
  3. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water!
  4. Make healthier food choices. Eat your fruits and vegetables.
  5. Learn to say, “no” to extra work without feeling guilty.
  6. Create a vision board.
  7. Get outdoors. Go for a walk or a hike.
  8. Happy Mother’s Day! (USA) Celebrate! If you are a mom, take a moment just for yourself. Or celebrate Mother’s Day with your mom or motherly figure in your life.
  9. Buy yourself something. If your budget is tight, go to your local dollar store. Buy a new book, craft materials, or a scarf.
  10. Create something.
  11. Take a nap.
  12. Create a new playlist for your morning commute.
  13. Check into a hotel for the night, order room service, and just relax.
  14. Take a long hot shower.
  15. Burn your favorite scented candle.
  16. Call an old friend to chat.
  17. Go out to lunch at a new restaurant.
  18. Volunteer.
  19. Clean out your old clothes to donate.
  20. Declutter one room.
  21. Make your favorite dinner or order take-out.
  22. Read a book.
  23. Visit a museum or art gallery. Be a hometown tourist for a day.
  24. Go on a day trip to a new location.
  25. Plan your dream vacation.
  26. Get a new hairstyle.
  27. Give yourself permission to do nothing for an afternoon or the entire day.
  28. Write in a journal.
  29. Try a new fitness routine. (YouTube has wonderful beginner videos)
  30. Meditate or pray.
  31. Your choice! But make the activity about you.
