July’s Journal Writing Prompts

Are you ready for July journal prompts?  Look at the following list for inspiration when writing in your journal every day.

  1. How did June go for you, your family, friends, work, and community? Describe your highs and lows for the month?
  2. Describe patriotism.
  3. Did you celebrate the 4th of July as a child? What is your best Independence Day memory?
  4. Happy Independence Day! What did you do to celebrate the holiday?
  5. What are the current pandemic restrictions in your area? Are the guidelines better or worse?
  6. What do you hope to accomplish this month? List 10 items.
  7. Free write for 20 minutes.
  8. Describe your perfect summer day.
  9. What were you doing exactly at 2pm? Describe the moment in detail.
  10.  What activity do you engage for self-care? Why does this activity help you?
  11. Write letters to friends or relatives. The content is entirely up to you. Also, you never have to send the letters. The decision to share the letters is your choice.
  12. Write about your first summer job.
  13. Write about your first summer crush.
  14. Write about your favorite summer childhood memory.
  15. Summer provides me a chance to__________. Fill in the blank but write at least a paragraph on the activity.
  16. Using your five senses. Describe the last time you were at the beach, lake, or poolside.
  17. Go to a summer community event. Afterwards, write a review of the activity.
  18. What do you feel is the most important part of summer? Why?
  19. How does summer affect your personal life, work, family, friends, etc.? Do you spend more or less time together? Why?
  20. Do you remember being 14 on summer break? What was your typical daily life at that age?
  21. What made you laugh today? Why was this moment funny?
  22. Write a review of your favorite summer movie, song, or television series.
  23. Write about your current stressors, anxiety, or fears for the upcoming months.
  24. Write about a recent news report. Why did this story seem important to you?
  25. You just won a major lottery jackpot! What do you do with the winnings? Provide details.
  26. Do you think you make a good first impression? Why?
  27. What do you do on a rainy summer day?
  28. Who is the one person in your life that you can always count on? What makes this person so special?
  29. Christmas in July is a major marketing campaign. Are you already thinking ahead to the holiday season? How do you hope the holiday will go for you?
  30. What do you hope to accomplish in the remaining months of 2021?
  31. What are you looking forward to in August?
