A new month is almost here. August is the perfect time to start a journal or continue your writing adventure. Do you need inspiration? Consider the following journal writing prompts for August.

- How did July go for you, your family, your friends, work, etc? List the highs and lows for last month.
- Write 3 goals for the month.
- Write goals for the remaining months of 2025.
- Do you have any pets? Write about the day from their point of view.
- What is your biggest fear right now? What steps can you take to alleviate this fear?
- Do you take time for yourself? What your self-care routine?
- Write about a challenging time in your life. What was your situation? What did you do to overcome this obstacle? Are you still going through this challenge? Write about what you have learned.
- Write about someone who inspires you? Why did you pick this person?
- If you could just pick up and leave, where would you go? Would you go on a vacation? Or move? Why?
- Write about your favorite movie? Why does this movie mean so much to you?
- Write about your first love.
- Free write for 10 minutes.
- What would you do if you could not fail?
- Write about your strengths and weaknesses at this moment in time.
- Do you believe that you are a better person than you were yesterday? Last month? Last year? Five years?
- Do you believe you are a happy person? Write about what brings you happiness.
- What is the most exciting and adventurous thins you have done in your life so far? Why does this memory stick out over others?
- What are you currently tolerating in your life that you want to change? What can you do to improve this situation?
- Research a quote or Bible verse that speaks to you today? Why did you pick this particular one?
- What was your favorite part of today? Why?
- Write a letter to your future self. Describe your achievement over the next month, year, or 5 years.
- Write about a time you were wrong. How did you resolve this situation? What did you learn from your experience.
- You are taking yourself out on a solo date. Where are you going? What do you plan to do?
- What is your guilty pleasure? Why does this bring you joy?
- Describe your perfect dream home.
- Take a moment to glance around the room. Write about what you see. Is there a specific object or person who brings you happiness. Go into detail.
- When was the last time you were out in nature? Write about your experience.
- August generally signals the end of summer. What do you still want to do before the colder months set in? And, what is your best summer memory?
- Today is the start of Labor Day weekend? Do you have any plans for the long weekend?
- When you was a child, did you and your family travel on holiday weekends? Where did you go? What was your favorite part?
- You made it to the end of the month! The ‘ber” months start tomorrow! What are you looking forward to doing?
