1. Early Countdown

Host an early countdown for younger kids who go to bed early.  Use balloons, confetti poppers, and noise makers to celebrate.

2. DIY Balloon Countdown

Write activities such as games, dancing, crafts, or snacks on slips of paper and put them inside balloons. Pop one each hour leading to midnight. Do the activity and wait for the next hour.

3. New Year’s Eve Party Hats & Crafts

Set up a craft station for kids to decorate their own party hats, noise makers, and confetti poppers.

4. Family Movie Marathon

Pick a lineup of favorite family movies or New Year-themed shows. Create a cozy blanket fort or a “movie theater” in the living room. For added fun, put on your pajamas early and camp out for the night.

5. Glow Stick Dance Party

Turn down the lights, hand out glow sticks, and let the kids dance to their favorite music.

6. Photo Booth with Props

Set up a DIY photo booth. Use a blanket or tablecloth for a backdrop.  Gather props like silly hats, glasses, and scarves. Then make 2025 signs for fun and memorable photos.

7. DIY Mocktails and Treats

Make kid-friendly mocktails (sparkling juice with fruit) and fun finger foods. Decorate cupcakes or cookies with edible glitter and sprinkles.

8. Memory Jar Activity

Have each child write down their favorite memories from the past year and put them in a jar. Open it next year to reflect.

9. Fireworks or Sparkler Show

If fireworks are allowed in your area, do a small sparkler show. Alternatively, watch fireworks on TV or stream them online.

10. Family Game Night

Play board games, video games, or trivia. Add small prizes for winners to make it more exciting.

11. Resolution Board

Let kids create a “New Year’s Resolution” board with their goals and hopes for the upcoming year. Do not forget to add your resolutions too.

12. Time Capsule

Create a time capsule with notes, photos, and small items from this year. Bury your time capsule or store it to open in the future.

13. Scavenger Hunt

Organize a New Year’s Eve-themed scavenger hunt around the house with glow-in-the-dark clues and small prizes.

14. Bubble Wrap Dance Floor

Lay out sheets of bubble wrap and let the kids dance and pop their way into the New Year.

These activities will make New Year’s Eve magical and memorable for kids. They will also keep the celebration safe and age-appropriate. Have fun! Take lots of photos and enjoy!
