Magical Atmosphere

  • Platform 9¾ Entrance: Hang a brick-pattern backdrop on a doorway. Make sure it has a slit down the middle. Your friends or family can “walk through the wall” to join the magical fun.
  • Floating Candles: Use fishing line and LED candles to make a Great Hall effect.
  • House Pride: Hang banners or balloons in house colors.

Food & Drink

  • Butterbeer Bar: Make butterbeer (cream soda, butterscotch syrup, whipped cream) and offer toppings like caramel drizzle or sprinkles.
  • Hogwarts Feast: Serve food inspired by books. For example, Shepherd’s Pie, Pumpkin Pasties, or Treacle Tart.
  • Treat Trolley Snacks: Offer Chocolate Frogs, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, and Cauldron Cakes.

Activities & Fun

  • Sorting Ceremony: If you do not already know which house you belong to, use an online quiz. You can also use a Sorting Hat toy to sort everyone into houses.
  • Magical Classes:
    • Potions: Mix colorful drinks or do a DIY science experiment.
    • Herbology: Plant small herbs in pots or paint flowerpots with house crests.
    • Defense Against the Dark Arts: A light wand duel with glow sticks or sparklers.
  • Hogwarts Express Movie Marathon: Watch Sorcerer’s Stone or binge as many films as possible.

Crafts & Keepsakes

  • DIY Wands: Make wands from chopsticks, hot glue, and paint.
  • Spell Book Journal: Start a little “magic journal” with spells, doodles, or quotes from the books.
  • Back-to-School Owls: Send letters or little treats to friends/family “from Hogwarts.”

Family Time

  • Back to Hogwarts Box: It is like a Christmas Eve box. However, it has Hogwarts-themed PJs, a mug, cocoa mix, and a Harry Potter book or movie.
  • Game Night: Play Hogwarts Legacy or other video games.
  • Trivia Night: Harry Potter trivia with house points and a little prize.
  • Lego: Put together a scene or place from Harry Potter.

Have fun with family and friends! Or spend time reading your favorite Harry Potter book!
