  • Plant a Tree: If you have the yard space, plant a tree in her memory. Trees provide numerous benefits for the environment. When you plant a fruit tree, you will eventually have a tasty treat down the road.
  • Plant Flowers: Did your mom have a favorite flower? Plant one near your house to remember her. Or put one on her gravesite. If you do not remember her favorite flower, plant a rose, peony, or other types of flowers that will return each year. When you continue to plant flowers in her memory, you will have a colorful garden bed to remember her.
  • Send Flowers: Send your mom’s favorite flowers to another mom. Consider sending flowers to an aunt, sister, or another mother in your life in memory of your mom. If you cannot think of another person, send flowers to a local nursing home. Ask the delivery to go to someone who may not otherwise get any mail or gifts.
  • Make Her Favorite Recipe: Did she have a favorite meal or dessert that she just loved to make on a special occasion? Dig out the old family recipe for a special Mother’s Day treat to honor your mom. Actually, for added fun, do the cooking as a family activity.
  • Light a Candle: Pick up a candle in your mom’s favorite scent and simply light it on Mother’s Day. The small act is an excellent way to remember her.
  • Donate: Donating to her favorite charity, food bank, dog shelter, or church is an excellent way to honor your mom on Mother’s Day.

A Mother’s Day celebration without your mom is difficult. But, you can still remember her loving spirit with little activities.
